Oilheat: Myth vs. Reality
The Loch Ness Monster. The Lost Colony of Atlantis. Bigfoot. These myths have both puzzled and entertained people for generations. And while scientists and civilians alike question, "Are these phenomena true or not?" when it comes to Oilheat, there are common misconceptions that absolutely must be debunked. After all, 30 million Americans depend on Oilheat and that's no myth!
Myth 1: Oilheat is explosive.
Reality: Oil doesn't explode. If you drop a match into heating oil, it will go out as if dropped into water. The only "explosion" you'll get with Oilheat is the explosion of information about how wonderful it is!
Myth 2: Oilheat isn't dependable.
Reality: We will not run out of Oilheat anytime soon. There will always be a plentiful supply, even during the coldest winter months. In fact, the United States has a Strategic Petroleum Reserve with a capacity of 700 million barrels the world's largest emergency oil stockpile in addition to a two-million-barrel heating oil reserve.
Myth 3: Oil is expensive.
Reality: Oil is a great value. According to the Metropolitan Energy Council, heating oil has been less expensive than natural gas for 10 of the last 11 years! In fact, if you adjust for inflation, the price of heating oil is about the same as it was in the 1950s!
Myth 4: Oilheat isn't efficient.
Reality: New advances have raised Oilheat efficiency. Thanks to Clearburn Science, dramatic changes have taken place in Oilheat burner technology, and many Oilheat systems now boast efficiency in excess of 85%. Another efficiency fact: the average annual fuel consumption in 1970 was 1300 gallons; today it is only 800 gallons!
Myth 5: Oilheat is dirty.
Reality: Oilheat is clean heat for clean homes. Today's Oilheat systems create absolutely no soot, dirt or odors in the home. It's 99.9 clean, which means it passes even your most discriminating "white glove" test!
So, get real! Stick with Oilheat it's a "Hot Idea" for today's clean, cost-conscious consumers.
